Fresh Roasted On Demand. This coffee is roasted locally by our master roaster. Our master roaster is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, The Roaster's Guild, The Rainforest Alliance and is a Fair Trade Certified Roastery. (Our Black Forest Blend, is not roasted from our local master roaster. Instead it is imported from Germany in vacuum sealed bricks that lock in the freshness.)
Certified USDA Organic. This organic coffee is roasted and produced in a USDA Certified Organic facility. (Black Forest is not Certified Organic.)
Fair Trade Certified. This coffee is fairly traded. Whether "Fair Trade Certified" or "Certified Organic" or not. Many small coffee growers around the planet simply cannot afford expensive certification. To reject these valuable farmers would go against the values we hold dearly. We buy only the finest, highest grade specialty green coffee from around the world.
High Altitude Arabica Bean. There are several species coffee plants, the finest quality being Arabica, which today represents 59% of the world’s coffee production. Arabica originated in the highlands of Ethiopia. It is sensitive to hot and humid conditions, and grows at altitudes of 1.25-1.55 miles. Arabica grown at higher altitudes is associated with the emergence of higher quality characteristics during roasting. Makes for a better cup of coffee. (Our Black Forest Blend Has both Arabica Beans and Robusta Beans)
